Professional Credentials
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Rafii earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology, with a minor in Business Administration, from California State University, Northridge, where he also completed a certificate in Business Administration. He went on to receive his doctorate from Samuel Merritt University’s California School of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Rafii then completed his foot and ankle surgical residency at Georgetown University and MedStar Washington Hospital Center, which is home to the busiest Level I trauma center in the region. There, he trained within the division of plastic surgery, with an emphasis on limb salvage, reconstructive surgery, and trauma.
After his residency, Dr. Rafii completed his fellowship at Virginia Foot and Ankle Surgical Associates, where he was trained to manage a wide range of complex foot and ankle conditions, including arthritis, tendonitis, bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, ankle sprains, flat and cavus foot reconstruction, microsurgical nerve repair, and Charcot deformity correction. He is also skilled in ankle arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgical procedures for foot and ankle conditions and injuries.

Outside of the practice, Dr. Rafii is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking and jogging. His recent adventures include hiking a portion of Mt. Rainier in Washington and exploring the majority of the Hawaiian islands. No matter how busy his schedule is, he prioritizes daily cardiovascular activity, treating physical and mental health as a cornerstone of his routine.
