Symptoms Of Neuromas And How Treatment Can Provide Relief

If you have a pronounced and painful lump on the ball of your foot, then you may have developed what is called a neuroma. When it worsens to a certain point, it can really impact someone’s ability to go about their normal life. At the Dynamic Medical Centers, we know that some patients may have pain so severe that they feel it with every step they take. At our clinic, we have treated many patients who sought relief for neuromas. If you are having symptoms and would like to schedule an examination for neuroma treatment, contact our team as soon as possible!

Neuromas

Neuromas are a condition in which nerve tissue that connects to the toes thickens. This applies pressure on the nerve and causes pain. Oftentimes, an issue develops between the third and fourth toes, but this can be found in the second and third toes. A neuroma can cause various symptoms, such as inflammation between the toes, sharp pain between toes when walking, overall foot numbness, uncomfortable separation of the toes, pain on the ball of your foot, and a “pins and needles” sensation. Other times, you may feel like there is a rock in your shoe that actually isn’t there, whether walking or standing. The pain may worsen by wearing shoes that are not supportive or well-fitted.

Based on how you take care of your feet, how you move, and some foot deformities, you could develop a neuroma. Contributing factors that can cause neuromas include bunions, flat feet, hammertoes, high arches, foot trauma, prolonged standing, wearing shoes that are too tight, or engaging in physical activities, like running. For us to properly diagnose neuromas, we have to visually examine the foot, gently palpate to pinpoint the location of pain, and note the severity of your symptoms. There are various treatment options that we may recommend, like altering your activities, using padding to reduce pressure, pain medication, more appropriate shoes, orthotics, and other methods. For an examination and individualized care plan, contact our clinic at your next earliest convenience!

I cannot say enough good things about this practice. This was my first time coming and I had some issues going on with my toe. It was so sore that couldn’t even touch it and how I dreaded going in because the pain was so severe. When I arrived you can feel positive vibes there. From the girls up front desk to the nurse in the back. I had awesome nurse and when I met Dr. Rafii he was awesome. He took the time to listen about the trauma in the past that was done to that right foot and the 2 surgeries that I had on the right ankle. He knew right away what was going on and when in clipped everything and pain free. I got so much relief. I just want to thank the wonderful staff there for you loving care. You guys are the best.
